Last October 3rd, the 3rd graders of Yokote Seiryo Junior High School had the opportunity to have an online interaction with students from Assumption Antipolo. AA is a private and Catholic school in the city of Antipolo in the Philippines. The online exchange is the culmination of the Basic Global Communication classes which started last July.

Through Zoom, the Grade 9 students of AA were able to watch the presentations of Seiryo students about various Japanese culture such as Anime, Local food of Yokote City, Festivals and the Sight-seeing spots in Akita Prefecture.

At the latter half of the activity, all the students were grouped into 6 breakout rooms. During this session, AA students prepared short yet interesting activities which provided a lighter and more fun atmosphere of communication in English. Though some were nervous at the start, the 3rd graders were happy and smiling towards the end.

Yokote Seiryo JHS teacher and students are grateful to Assumption Antipolo for this meaningful chance of online international exchange for the second time this year.
May this bring forth beautiful friendships between the Japanese and Filipino youth.
We are all looking forward to the next one!
